Beginner's Guide to Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO, is the art and science of making web pages attractive to the search engines. The better optimized the page is, the higher a ranking it will achieve in search engine result listings. This is especially critical because most people who use search engines only look at the first page or two of the search results, so for a page to get high traffic from a search engine, it has to be listed in those first two or three pages.
In short, Search engine optimization is the process of increasing the amount of visitors to a Web site by ranking high in the search results of a search engine. The higher a Web site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user. It is common practice for Internet users to not click through pages and pages of search results. Search engine optimization (SEO) helps to ensure that a site is accessible to a search engine and improves the chances that the site will be found by the search engine.
Search engine optimization is the practice of guiding the development or redevelopment of a website so that it will naturally attract visitors by winning top ranking on the major search engines for selected search terms and phrases.
Search engine optimization is the adjustment of html page entities and content for the express purpose of ranking higher on search engines. Search engine optimization is the skill of designing or re-designing a website in order to improve the search engine ranking of that website for certain relevant keywords.
How do Search Engines Work?
In order to use Search Engine Optimization one must know full functionality of Search Engines. The working is as follows:
Search Engines for the general web do not really search the World Wide Web directly. Each one search a database of the full text of web pages selected from the billions of web pages out there residing on servers. When you search the web using a search engine, you are always searching a somewhat stale copy of the real web page. When you click on links provided in search engine search results, you retrieve from the server the current version of the page. Search engine databases are selected and built by computer robot programs called spiders. Although it is said they "crawl" the web in their hunt for pages to include, in truth they stay in one place. They find the pages for potential inclusion by following the links in the pages they already have in their database (i.e., already know). They cannot think or type a URL or use judgment to decide to go look something up and see what's on the web about it. Computers are getting more sophisticated all the time, but they are still brainless. If a web page is never linked to in any other page, search engine spider’s cannot find it. The only way a brand new page - one that no other page has ever linked to - can get into a search engine is for its URL to be sent by some human to the search engine companies as a request that the new page be included. All search engine companies offer ways to do this.
After spiders find pages, they pass them on to another computer program for indexing. This program identifies the text, links, and other content in the page and stores it in the search engine database's files so that the database can be searched by keyword and whatever more advanced approaches are offered, and the page will be found if your search matches its content.
Some types of pages and links are excluded from most search engines by policy. Others are excluded because search engine spiders cannot accesses them. Pages that are excluded are referred to as the Invisible Web. The Invisible Web is estimated to be two to three or more times bigger than the visible web.
Brief Introduction to Search Engines
While the public generally refers to all Internet searching tools as search engines, there are actually three different types of it. These types are as follows:
¨ Search Engines - AltaVista, Google, Teoma, AllTheWeb, MSN etc
¨ Directories - Open Directory, Yahoo, LookSmart etc
¨ Portals - AOL, Netscape, iWon, Lycos, HotBot, Excite etc
Search engines and directories take the following variables into consideration when determining your site’s ranking in the results for a specific search:
¨ Quality - The quality of your Web site affects the directory editor's evaluation of your submission. Quality refers to utility or usefulness and comprehensiveness.
¨ Title - The title is one of the most important factors in your site's eventual search engine ranking. Because directory search engines such as Yahoo! only search through the title, description, and URL you submit, having important keywords in your title is critical.
¨ Content - For search engines that index your page using an automated process, such as AltaVista, Google, Teoma, AllTheWeb, MSN, Inktomi, the content is critical. The content must be brief, focused, and internally consistent.
¨ Description - The Meta description tag must speak convincingly to the search engine user and must include key words and phrases.
¨ Popularity - Popularity is a term used to describe search engines' measurement of your site's importance to the Web community. It factors in the number, quality, and type of Web pages that include links back to your page. Google has a branded version of popularity it calls Page Rank. Links to your Web site increase your popularity and offer search engine spiders robots more opportunities to index your page.
¨ SEO – Search Engine Optimization fine-tune the code on your page to help you win for specific searches.

Understanding Search Engine Marketing in 2007 / 2008
Visitors find related information by using a search engine. You may have the most incredible website on the Internet, but it will receive little or no traffic without search engine visibility and ranking.
The goal for your website is to appear on the first or second page of the search engines’ results when your target users searches keywords or keyword phrases. Because most people who use search engines only look at the first page or two of the search results. Search engines like Google, AltaVista, MSN etc currently indexing over 10 billion pages; hence it becomes more and more difficult to get listed in top rank.
The creation of original and high quality contents provides the highest returns. It's extremely important to set aside time to research on your content as content plays a vital role, if you want to get listed in top rank of search engines. Content is extremely important because it ‘s the content which is indexed in search engines and on this indexing position of a website depends in search engines. Also do some research to find good keywords, which you think will be used by visitors to find your website. Use good keywords with low competition. Content also play a role to get inbound one-way links for your website as if content is good then other web sites wants to link with your website.
Link popularity in simply terms is the total number of web pages that link to your web page or website. Search engines rank web pages and websites by checking link popularity of your website. Link popularity increase the visitor’s traffic and getting good web page rank given by search engines. Always try to increase incoming links on your website, as incoming links are relevant links which is relevant to your website services and products. Incoming links helps to get targeted visitors who are looking for similar type of services or products over web. Another type of link exchange is reciprocal link in this type of link webmasters exchange links with other in order to boost their link popularity. Adding links in your website is a very effective way to get direct traffic to your website.
At this time Google is at number one along with Yahoo! And MSN Search at second and third place respectively. These three search engines holds / represent between 85% and 95% of all traffic that arrives at a website directed by a search engine or directory service.
Try to add your website in all search engines and directories, if you website get listed in Google it doesn’t means that your work is over. Try to promote and add your website in other search engines also like MSN, AltaVista etc. And above all try to list your website in Open Directory (Dmoz) as it is the most important directory that exists on the web today.

"The Secret To Getting Listed In Google In Under 24 Hours - Guaranteed" by Akash Kumar
Friday, April 28, 2006
Well, the truth of the matter is... Getting listed in Google in under a day is quite easy! First, let's define what "getting indexed by Google" means... Let's say that you create a brand new website. For our purposes, we'll call it http://www.bradcallenscoolwebsite.com/ If we go to Google and enter: www.bradcallenscoolwebsite.com into the search box, we'll see that no results are returned. See below:
The reason no results appear is because our website is new and it's not "in Google's index" yet. If you're not in their index, your site can't be ranked by them because they don't know your site exists... So, in order to rank in Google, you must first get into their index. Once your website is in there index and you do a search like we did above, you'll see the screen below:
Notice your website title, description, and URL now appear... This website has been indexed by Google.
Ok, now that we've got that out of the way, let's talk about what NOT to do when trying to get indexed by Google. This drives me absolutely crazy when I see people doing this, and is actually what I did at one time as well. The following URL might look familiar to you:http://www.google.com/addurl.html
This is Google's actual website submission form. They state that you can use this form to submit your website to their index of websites and it can take up to 6 weeks for your website to be placed into their index. I don't know about you, but 4 weeks is a heck of a long time to just wait for your website to be placed in their index rotation, let alone get a top ranking!
You should NEVER use this form, or any other of the top search engine's submission forms for that matter. These search engines include Yahoo, MSN, Altavista, and Alltheweb.
So, how do you get your website indexed within 24 hours? Let's stick with our weight loss website for now, and I will take you through the steps you'll need to do to get indexed by Google in under 24 hours, guaranteed? Go to Google and enter the broadest keyword you can think of that's related to your website. In our example, it will be "weight loss". Once you've done this, you'll see a list of Google results? Browse through each website and pay particular attention to the Google Page Rank of the website.
Note: Remember, Google Page Rank is measured by the number of websites and the "importance" of those websites that link to your website. In general, the more websites that link to your website, the higher your Page Rank will be.
So, as you're looking at these top ranked websites for the search term "weight loss", you should try to find websites with a Page Rank of 5 or higher. Once you've found several websites like this, you should check and see whether or not they have links pages. Usually you'll see links from their index page that say (resources, links, related sites, etc.) Now, you need to search their website for their contact information or information on getting a link from one of their high Page Rank webpages.
Once you find their contact information you should send them an email asking if they will link to your website in return for you linking back to their website. If you do this correctly and professionally, they will respond and will place a link on their website to yours. If you can manage to get 1 PR5 website to link to your website, you will be indexed by Google in under 3 days. If you can get 1 PR6 website to link to you, then you will be in Google's index in under 24 hours!
Sometimes persuading the higher page rank websites is pretty tough, especially if your website is brand new, but there's another option you can pursue and that is ... Purchasing links from high Page Rank websites. The easiest and fastest way to do this is to visit 1 of the many link purchasing websites. Here are a few of the better ones that I personally use on a regular basis. I've listed them in order of which I view as the best. Many times you can purchase 1 PR7 link for a 1 month time period for, say, $150. After the month is up, there is no need to renew because you are already in Google's index! So, basically by paying a 1 time fee of $150 you can be indexed by Google within 24 hours, with no work on your part.
Something else that I will typically do with new websites, is I will always link my older, higher Page Rank websites to my new websites. If you already own 1 PR5 or 6 website, then place a link on the index page of that PR5 or 6 website and point it to your new website. Leave the link there for 1-3 days and you'll quickly see your new website in Google's index! Once you're in the index, you can remove the link from your higher Page Rank website. It's as easy as that...
So, you can see that getting indexed quickly by Google is VERY easy and doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

Advantages of RSS Websites by James Mahony
Saturday, April 01, 2006
So what is RSS really all about? The following report includes some fascinating information about RSS--info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.
RSS - or what is now known as "Really Simple Syndication" - is a file format that is incorporated by Internet users in their websites to allow for 'web syndication', making their web content available in a format that can be universally understood by other people.
In essence, RSS is a 'mini database' that contains headlines and descriptions (a summary or a line or two of the full article) of your web content, including hyperlinks that enable users to link back to the full article of their choice.
RSS websites - that is, websites that contain RSS 'feeds' (articles or postings) - typically have colorful graphics to indicate to users that the specific web content is available through RSS feeds. These graphics are usually depicted by orange rectangles that are usually marked with 'RSS' or 'XML'.
With its increased popularity, RSS is now being adopted and used by more website owners or publishers. Today, numerous resources are now available that aid Internet surfers (and even beginners as well) on how to set up and use RSS.
Setting up RSS feeds and adding them to your website can be a simple process that does not involve a lot of time or any money. Listed below are some simple and basic steps that you might want to follow:
1. Have your web content and/or news in an RSS feed format, such as XML (appropriate and 'ready-made' feeds are also available from other sources).
2. Click the orange graphic - this is the RSS feed icon. Take note of the URL of the RSS feed; this will be displayed in the address bar (for Internet Explorer).
3. Input the feed URL on your RSS feed creation program.
4. Click on the "Generate Feed" button. This will generate the RSS code for your web content.
5. Enter the RSS code in the appropriate place on your own website.
Having created an RSS feed for your website, next comes the task of publishing your web content and news and having them displayed on other sites and headline viewers. This is made possible with the use of RSS readers or aggregators.
RSS readers or news aggregators are used to view particular web contents. RSS readers contain the collection of 'feeds' or RSS files from content providers, and they are generally classified into 3 types:
· Desktop RSS readers - also known as standalone desktop application, they generally 'run' in the background and are similar to an e-mail client, collecting the feeds and refreshing items automatically as they are updated.
Now that we've covered those aspects of RSS, let's turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.
If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole RSS story from informed sources.
· Web-based aggregators - these are online services that enable users to personalize web pages, refreshing them each time the page is accessed or each time a person logs in to the service.
· Plug-in aggregators/readers - these make use of either web browsers or e-mail clients, which allow users to view RSS feeds while inside an existing program.
Having an RSS-enabled website provides Internet users (especially those who are website owners) with the following benefits:
· Allows users to generate up-to-date news and postings, as information and content in the RSS readers or aggregators are automatically updated each time the RSS feed is 'refreshed'.
· Allows users to have control over the information that they wish to view or receive, as they can remove a feed of their choosing any time they want to.
Aside from these benefits, RSS websites are also useful for people who conduct their business in the Internet, particularly in Internet or Online Marketing. RSS can be an effective marketing tool for your website, especially in the following fields:
· E-mail marketing and publishing · Search engine marketing and optimization · Business blogging · Internet advertising · Digital public relations · Branding and e-commerce
In addition, RSS can 'power' your website, providing you with the following:
· Valuable, updated, and relevant resources for site visitors and potential clients - RSS is ideal for websites that contain (and syndicate) a lot of information that has to be changed or updated regularly.
· Search engine optimization for the website.
· Increased traffic for the website - your website can 'harvest' and display information from other sites, driving more traffic to your own website.
· A wide selection of 'channels' for content distribution, such as PDA's, cellular phones, voice mails, and email ticklers.
· A reliable way to have your web content delivered to Internet users and potential clients - RSS ensures that your site is viewed by the people who are interested in them, without having them blocked and 'cleaned' by ISPs or Spam filters.
These are just some of the advantages that RSS can give your website (and your business). The possibilities are endless, as more and more comes up almost everyday. Do not be left behind - take the advantage of the marketing and publishing power of RSS.
If you've picked some pointers about RSS that you can put into action, then by all means, do so. You won't really be able to gain any benefits from your new knowledge if you don't use it.

Review of Cashlinks Lite for Wordpress by Robert Rogers
Cashlinks Lite is a plugin that will dynamically hyperlink any keyword or phrase to any url that you specify. All you have to do is write the article, do a review, or even use syndicated articles in your blog for content. Then Cashlinks Lite will insert the code to hyperlink keywords in the article automatically.
Before Cashlinks Lite, writing an article with links to your affiliates meant stopping every other sentence to insert the hyperlink code on the text. If you want to link to several different affiliates, it's a major pain and can really stop your in your tracks. Even worse, it disrupts your thought process and could cause you to start all over.
How about all of the previous posts you have in your blog. Ever go back and edit them because you wanted to include links to new affiliates? If you have hundreds of posts, you wouldn't even think about doing that. You'd probably pick two or three then get too tired or bored to do anymore. It's a mundane task and very time consuming.
But wait! Isn't that what computers are for? To do all the mundane repetitive things that we humans don't feel like doing? Wouldn't it be nice if your computer could go back and insert the hyperlink code for you on every keyword in every post, article, or page you ever wrote in Wordpress? Now thanks to Cashlinks Lite, it can. Whether you have one post or thousands, Cashlinks Lite will dynamically insert hyperlink code on every keyword or phrase you tell it to.
If this article were in a Wordpress, you would see several links in this article already. I wouldn't have to insert the hyperlinks manually or re-edit this article. All would have to do is write this article as I usually do for any post, and Cashlinks Lite does the rest. Those of us who blog on a daily basis, understand what a time save this really is! For those of us who have hundreds of pages in our blogs, it's a miracle!
Every link you see in every post on every page of your blog would be automatically created with Cashlinks Lite. You wouldn't have to edit a single page. Anytime you want to change how a keyword links, just go into the Wordpress control panel and update the url for that keyword once! Then Cashlinks Lite will replace every instance of that keyword with the new hyperlink automatically.
A powerful technique when using Cashlinks Lite is to link specific keywords to your own sites. Any search engine optimization expert will tell you that incoming links to your site will have more impact on how your site ranks than any other single technique. More importantly, when those links use "anchor text" for the keywords you are optimizing for, your site will rank higher for those keywords.
The best example of this is "click here". If you search for "click here" in google, you'll find in #1 position Adobe Reader. Of course Adobe is not optimizing their site for "click here", but how many websites use the anchor text "click here" which links to the free Adobe Reader software? Probably millions!
This is where Cashlinks Lite can really improve your rankings to all your sites. By choosing the keywords you want to optimize your site for, then telling Cashlinks Lite to hyperlink those keywords to your own sites. If you have hundreds of pages in your blogs, you would now have hundreds of links using the keyword anchor text of your choice linking back to them!
Now here is the best part. Cashlinks Lite is FREE! My colleague Mike Ambrosio is just giving away Cashlinks Lite. Not only that, he is giving away over $614 worth of products to internet marketers like yourself. There are too many products to list here, but Cashlinks Lite is included.

Blogs Bring Traffic by Donald N. Lombardi
Most simply put, blogs are like journals - only, instead of being made of the paper and cardboard kept secret by an even thinner piece of cardboard and a lock your baby brother frequently opened with a paperclip, these journals are online. Why does it seem like everyone has one? Well, because almost everyone does. And there is good reason. Blogs can be used as journals, both private and public; they can be used as ways for fans to discuss the latest episode of their favorite sitcom; or, they can be used by major companies, especially those that are Internet-based, because unlike the traditional forms of advertising, blogs bring in more traffic.
For business purposes, there are many ways companies use blogs. For example, a company may have several blogs on its website, each one dedicated to something different: customer concerns, product updates, etc. In addition to being helpful to customers and other website visitors, these blogs bring in more traffic to the website, as well. Depending on the website, more traffic usually means more money. And more money means - that is right - you are on your way to that summer home in the Hamptons!
So, how exactly do blogs bring in more traffic? Well, Adsense ads with Google are a good starting point. The search engine visits your page more each time your update, ultimately moving your blog higher and higher on the SERPs (Search Engine Results Page) and leading to more revenue from the ads being represented in your blog.
Some pointers? First, the blogger will need to decide what he or she is going to write about. Choose a popular topic, one that people are interested in. Underwater Basket Weaving probably would not be a very wise choice as not many people seem to be interested in it. Unless, of course, your business is underwater basket weaving, in which case you should by all means write about it. Next, focus on some keywords - these are the words that search engines are going to pick up on. Do not dowse your blog in these words, but use them whenever you effectively can. Lastly, make sure you write content that will attract, and keep, a strong readership. You want your readers to keep coming back, right?
Go ahead, join the millions of people and businesses alike. Get yourself a blog. Or corner your boss and suggest writing one for your company. Explain how blogs bring in more traffic, more traffic means more money, and more money means - that is right again! - you are on your way to the Hamptons.

The Secret Of Outsourcing Your Ebook And Getting High Quality Results. By B Hopkins
Monday, March 13, 2006
Ebooks are a common and easy way for consultants, and experts to promote their services, build up their reputation as an expert in their field, and generate an additional income stream. The problem is, most consultants are not experienced writers, and without the help of outsourcing their project, most of them would not even consider creating an ebook.
Outsourcing, or hiring a ghost writer to write the ebook for the consultant will save them time, and in most cases, produce a more professional product than the consultant could ever create for themselves. However, the waters can be a bit choppy for the consultant new to creating ebooks and ghost writing. Following this simple secret should keep the boat from rocking too much in the waters of the ghost writing ocean.
Be sure to avoid the bait and switch if the consultant is using an online outsource clearinghouse such as scriptlance or other clearing house site. The way these clearing houses work, is a merchant, or buyer who wants to have an ebook written, places a project online describing the ebook and the details (number of pages, subject matter, etc.) Bidders, or contractors, who are located world-wide, will then bid on the project and place their bids in the buyer's project area. The buyer then looks over the bids, and selects a contractor, or writer based on whatever the criteria that is important to the buyer.
For the any buyer whose main audience is U.S. based, their requirements will typically include having the ebook written in common U.S. English. If it isn't, then it should be a requirement because buyers come from all over the world, and their command of spoken U.S. English isn't always as high as a buyer of an ebook project might like it to be.
In order to see what the contractor, or writer's style is like, it is a good idea to get a sample of their writing. Instead of using samples they provide. Have them write an article based on the project specifications. Include, topic, length, format (a how to, a narrative, etc.) and maybe keyword density. The buyer should be prepared to pay the writer for the sample, as they are doing work for you. Another benefit of having them write a sample article is that you can use the article to promote the ebook that is being written, so it would be best to have them write the sample article on the same topic as the ebook.
The bait and switch comes in after the buyer receives the sample article. What some writers do, is they have someone else write the sample article for them. This other individual usually has the credentials that the merchant is looking for and will usually do a very good job on the sample article. They will also offer to do the job at a very reasonable price, and in most cases, will tend to win the project.
Once the project begins, or very soon after the project begins, the style of writing suddenly changes and reads as if it is a bad translation into English. What happened is the project winner has switched writers on the buyer, and has used a cheaper writer who's command of the English language isn't as good. So what is a buyer to do?
A buyer can choose to terminate the project if the quality of the content doesn't improve immediately. They can then re-bid the project and choose a different writer. Or a buyer can choose to continue having the project completed and then do the rewrites and editing themselves. The second option is usually chosen by buyers who have a lot of time on their hands, are very familiar with the subject of the ebook, and like to write, but have difficulty coming up with an ebook structure. Most buyers will tend to choose the first option as the reason they are outsourcing their ebook in the first place is they don't know the subject and don't have much time.
The best way to not get caught in the bait and switch is to avoid it all together. Buyers should put very explicit instructions in their projects that whoever writes the sample article is the writer that will be expected to complete the project. The buyer will be selected on a large part based on the article and a change in the writer gives the buyer absolute right to cancel the project without payment.
Make it clear that the writer should bid on the project based on this criteria. This should screen out writers who practice the bait and switch techniques.
It is important for the buyer to have the writer send them the results on at the minimum, a weekly basis for longer projects, and every few days for shorter projects. That way, the buyer can catch errors much earlier in the project and have them corrected before the project is complete. This type of communication also promotes good will between the buyer and the writer, and will usually shorten the overall project time.
Entering the world of ebook publishing can be exciting and also open up many doors for the merchant or consultant. Navigating through the pitfalls isn't so difficult as one might think, and avoiding them will certainly make your ebook project much more enjoyable and profitable. Expressing yourself online: a beginner's guide to blogging by TradingIdeas4You.com
Thursday, March 02, 2006
The blog, known less-commonly by the term "weblog", is becoming an increasingly popular form of Internet communication. It enables one to make a statement, to keep in touch with old friends, to precipitate debates and express their feelings.
Just what is a blog? More text-based than most websites, it is a personal web space that is written in by you and you alone. You can register with a blogging website to obtain a section of it for yourself, or you can design your own small site and upload it to a free or paid host. You can even get your very own domain name for it, and put whatever you like on it. Anything goes in a blog - there are, however, a few generalized types of blogging that people might not even know exist.
The weblog was originally created as sort of an online journal or diary. This is still the most widespread use of large blog-providing websites, such as LiveJournal. The journal-style system, depending on whom the hoster is, allows the blogger to network their blog with others. With a single click from their site, they can peruse the new journal posts of dozens of friends, starting from the most recent. They can set security so only those friends can read their posts. They can find people with similar interests and perhaps participate in a community blog with them. The journal type of blog can contain everything from quotes to pictures to quizzes to schedules, whatever the blogger decides to put there, but it is typically used for a day-to-day chronicle of one's life, and a place to express happiness or unhappiness. This type of blog is often popular for keeping in touch with old friends or family who are unable to see each other often, such as a student living in residence at college, or a relative who has moved overseas. Journal blogs are also often highly personalized, making them even more appealing - the keeper of the blog may add a special website layout, icons to indicate their mood, or "avatars", small graphics featuring an image of themselves or some of their interests.
The other major type of blog does not have a specific name or category, but it is generally used for editorial-style writings. The blogger pens his or her opinion on a certain subject - anything that they may feel strongly against. Politics and religion are common subjects of such blogs, and depending on where the blogger is hosted he or she may receive hundreds of comments or e-mails in reply. This is an excellent way to begin a good online debate, but is less like a forum than it may sound - remember that one person is making the statement, and all rebuttals would be featured in comments below, if at all. Rather than a discussion, an opinion blog is often an opportunity to draw attention to one's way of thinking, with space for commenting but little opportunity for in-depth disagreement. (However, a response from a reader in their own blog is not uncommon!)
Community blogs are often a mixture of the previous two. They are usually comprised of members of a certain group, or people who have interest in a similar subject, such as a blog for fans of a certain TV show or a blog for people who are in a particular faculty in college. Again, there are no restrictions on who can or cannot be part of such a community. In these blogs, events may be planned, people share photos, writings and artwork, engage in debates, and get to know people similar to themselves.
Blogging has a lot of potential for artists and aspiring writers or photographers as well. Any kind of medium that can be written or scanned - from graphite art to your latest short story - may be placed in a blog for people to evaluate or constructively criticize. These types of posts are usually found within journal or community blogs, where friends and sometimes strangers can offer their honest advice.
There are dozens of other uses for blogs. They could be a subsection of a personal website, a showcase for photographs, an advice column, a space to share song lyrics, recipes, translations and just about any other form of written text. There are blogs devoted to thousands upon thousands of subjects, and millions of people keeping daily diaries in personal blogs. New to this kind of thing? It's simple and fun, and a great way to express yourself. All you need is a piece of web space and a thought, and you're on your way to blogging.

How To Promote Your Site by Larry Potter
1. Get Your Site High In The Search Engines
Getting your site linked high in the search engines for your keywords and keyphrases.
One of the best ways to do this is to ensure your site has a good number of incoming links from quality sites.
Also make sure that your site reflects the keywords/keyphrases that you are looking for - they should be in your title tag, your headline tags, and in your initial paragraphs. Don't however over do it, or it will look like "keyword stuffing" and you will do more damage than good - just make sure they are there in a natural fashion.
Don't aim for the most popular keywords, you will have a much harder time achieving success. Do some analysis using a tool such as WordTracker.com, and aim for keywords and keyphrases for which you have a fighting chance.
2. Create A Buzz
If your site offers something new and exciting, it creates a wow factor, and news about your site will spread far and wide with very little further effort on your part.
3. Don't Waste Your Visitors
Every visitor that comes to your site is hard-earned - so don't 'waste' them. You want them to come back, to return time and time again. This will ensure your traffïc climbs over time, rather than remains static.
First, ensure your site doesn't scare them away. Make it easy to use, visually appealing, and treat critical emails that you may receive from visitors from time to time like gold - while not all criticisms are valid representations of how the majority of visitors see your site, some of these emails can help you turn your business around if you listen in a positive manner instead of react negatively and defensively.
Secondly, try to subscribe as many visitors as possible to a list, so that you can correspond with them time and time again. Sending them news about your site for example will keep them coming back.
4. Pay-Per-Click Engines
Bidding for keywords on PPCs like Google Adwords won't usually bring you large amounts of traffïc, but if you do it carefully, the traffïc it does bring you should be highly targeted and therefore very valuable.
The trick is to know your stats. Know exactly what your salës conversion rates are per keyword, and how much investmënt on each keyword is viable for you.
For example, let's say your site sells artist pencils:
- If you are bidding $0.30 for the keyword 'pencil', each sale of a box of pencils brings you $10 profït, but if only 1 in 100 clicks for the keyword 'pencil' brings you a sale, you are spending $30 for each sale of $10, which is losing you a large amount of money.
- However, if you are bidding $0.10 for the keyphrase 'artist pencils', and 1 in 25 buys from your site, you are spending $2.50 on each sale that brings you a profït of $10, which is a profitable investmënt - i.e. it brings you a net profït of $7.50 per sale.
5. Strategic Linking
This can be one of the most important methods to generate traffïc over the long-term. Not only can you receive traffïc direct from the links, the more links there are, the higher your position will tend to be in the search engines.
The following two methods are the most effective ways to build up links, and concentrating on these can repay dividends over the long-term:
a. Article Submissions
The idea here is that you write an article that other webmasters and publishers can freely reprint on their web sites. Other sites and publishers desperately need content - you simply provide it. The pay-off for you is that to reprint it, they have to include your resource box that contains a link to your web site, and in the majority of cases, the link will be of the valuable non-reciprocal kind.
By writing your article and then distributing it as widely as possible, you can end up with hundreds of incoming links to your site from other quality web sites. This can be the most effective site promotion strategy there is.
b. Your Own Affïliate Program
With an affïliate program, people link to your site and receive a commission on any salës that result from their referrals.
This provides a strong encouragement for others to provide links to your site - the trick is to ensure the affïliate link actually links direct to your domain and not through a third-party site, otherwise they will get the benefit from the link rather than you.

Are you interested in increasing your Google PageRank? by Vladimir
First, a word about the Google Search engine: Google is one of the most popular search engines on the Internet. Not only is Google's search engine the absolute largest of its kind, the company focuses on making web information easy to access and even easier to find. Google has designed a unique system and the search engine has yet to be surpassed in terms of the information it provides. Google has grown immensely since its early beginning in 1996 and it will continue to be a predominant force on the Internet. Furthermore, because Google offers easy access to immediate information, they own one of the top Internet search engines in the world. Thus, it would serve a webmaster well to become familiar with the Google PageRank process-the Google PageRank is an algorithm that is based on inbound links and other factors and will ultimately determine the location of listing of your website in the Google Search Engine.
What precisely is Google PageRank?
Google PageRank is a process the search engine's uses as a way of selecting sites to answer specific queries. Basically, when an Internet user submits a query, the Google search engine will attempt to match websites to the query that has been posed. Yet, there is a bit more to this simple science than the act of submitting a query suggests. Rather, behind the scenes, Google uses specific algorithms to determine if a site specifically address a web user's needs by analyzing the content of a site by keyword and by the number of inbound links associated with the site-every inbound link is viewed as a vote and the more votes one has, in conjunction with the more keywords one has, the higher their Google PageRank is.
Why is Your Google PageRank Significant?
What does it mean to you when your Google PageRank is increased? Does it really matter what your Google PageRank is at all? You bet it does-the higher your Google PageRank is the higher on a search engine's listing your website will appear. Thus, if you are looking for top billing, especially in a search engine as popular as the one Google offers, you will definitely want to maximize your efforts of getting your website visible and improving your PageRank is the best way to accomplish such a task. Moreover, the higher you appear on the search engine listing offered by Google, or many other search engines, the easier your website is to find. Essentially this equates to more web traffic for your website and if you are running an online business, more web traffic ultimately means more profit for you.
Making Google PageRank Improvements
If you are looking to improve your Google PageRank you can do so by starting a link campaign. A link campaign can help you increase more inbound links to your website and in turn, more inbound links will increase your Google PageRank. How do you start a link campaign? Well, you can go the hard route by scouring the Internet to find websites similar to your own. Or, you can make your link campaign a far easier process by using the services afforded to you by PageRank Browser and locate all of the best, themed websites on the Internet with relative ease.
Of course, there are few things you must bear in mind when you begin your link campaign. Google actually rates various links and holds some links higher than others. In other words, if you link to 100 less than popular sites you may increase your Google PageRank. Conversely, if you link to 50 extremely popular sites and you get inbound links in return, you may significantly increase your Google PageRank because the most popular sites on the Internet are linking directly too you. Thus, when you begin your link campaign, keep this popularity issue in the back of your mind. Further, know that in using PageRank Browser, you will be able to locate the popular sites with ease, and thereby significantly increase your Google PageRank.
About Inbound Links
Quite frankly, some links that you will establish will be better than others. You goal will be to establish the best links possible by examining the quality of inbound links. Various webmaster tools can help you determine the quality of the reciprocal links you establish. You will want to work hard at establishing direct inbound links to your site-direct links from already popular websites. You will also need to establish links to websites that are similar to yours-remember the search engine algorithm used by Google to determine your page rank is based on relevance. You will also find that the location of inbound links is of significant importance. For example, when you establish inbound links, those links that are buried deep within a website will have less influence on the ranking of your website in Google's search engine.
What is clear is that your Google PageRank is of significant importance. Thus, every effort should be used to improve your Google PageRank-with the use of webmaster tools and the use of sites like PageRank Browser you should have little difficulty getting your PageRank right where it should be. Therefore, you will not only improve your PageRank you will improve the web traffic you receive by leaps and bounds. Moreover, your improved PageRank will make you a force on the Internet to be reckoned with-you will have a highly recognizable website for all your efforts and you will ultimately improve your online business' bottom line.

SIX Golden rules of Pay per click marketing campaign by Radhika Venkata
What are pay per click engines?
Pay per click engines as the name suggests, webmasters have to pay a fee for each click coming from search engine results. Depending on how much the person bids for a keyword over his competitor his website will be positioned in the search engine results.
How pay per click search engines work?
For example if a webmaster bids $0.07 on the term 'tennis shoes'. If no other webmaster bids more than this, he will stay in 1st position. If second webmaster bids $0.08, then second one goes to 1st position. Basically this is like auction procedure for No.1 position.
So what are SIX Golden tips to work with Pay per click search engines?
RULE No. 1: Keywords:
Select your keywords carefully so that every keyword reflects your product. General keywords bring general public.
For example if you are offering search engine optimization service to webmasters, 'search engine' will be a general keyword for you. 'search engine optimization' , 'good search engine ranking' etc,. will be your good target keywords.
Another thing you have to remember is targeting your keywords. Like any geographical locaton specific to your product or any specific language...Some search engines like Google offer this feature to target the keywords based on the countries and language.
RULE No. 2: Write a compelling ad:
Most of the times the pay per click search engine services limits your ad characters and length. So try to keep the keyword in the ad headline and the body.
By doing so, you will get higher click thrus for tha ads. This will be very useful with Google, which determines your position not only by your bidding amount but also click thru ratio. Google editors won't allow you to use keyword more than once in your ad. It is to make use of your ad space more efficiently.
See the example below-
"Ebay ebook: Every thing about How to make money on ebay! An Easy to follow Guide!!"
"Ebay ebook that Stands in numder ONE position in Clickbank Market place as a Top Seller. See the Proof!"
Certainly anybody can say that the second one pulls traffic than the first ad.
Try different ones and see what pulls more traffic for you. Check your spelling and grammer twice before submitting your ads.
RULE No. 3: Don't enter in to Bidding war:
Keep an eye on your Return on Investment. (ROI) It is not that easy to resist the temptation of being number one on pay per click engine listings especially for the beginners. Always decide an amount how much you are going to spend on advertising campaigns. Depending on that devide certain percentage to PPCs.
With reasonable bidding amount you can get good amount of traffic from PPCs.
RULE No. 4: Monitor your bidding amount:
Most of the people bid once and don't remember about it for weeks. Monitor your bid amount after logging in to your accounts. Do this atleast once in every 4-7 days.
For example, If you go to overture.com and search for some of the the keywords, you can find the first positions paying $0.87, $0.85, 0.35 for the first three rankings. Don't you see who will be benefited by this? You can get the first and second position for $0.37 and $0.36 respectively.
So always keep an eye on your bidding amount.
RULE No. 5: Landing page:
After clicking on your link and coming to your website, don't let them search for the product for which they came to your site. Directly landing on the product page is always a good idea and saves lot of your visitor's time.
RULE No.6: Track your results:
Put some source code at the end of URL. Or submit different landing page for your product. So people coming to that URL can be tracked through a good weblogger. More on tracking your ad campaigns is at:

5 Ways To Get Links From Other Sites by Mark Flavin
Wednesday, March 01, 2006
Nevertheless, there are a lot of people who have problems with getting links as they know not where to start. Here are some ways of getting links from the other websites:
1. Ask for a link There's nothing simpler than this. All you need is some bravery and take action to ask for a link. E-mail the webmaster politely and personally asking for a link and how it can benefit each other. If there's no response, follow up every 2-3 days and usually you'll be delighted with the outcome.
2. Offer a free product in exchange for a link You can always offer a product of yours, an e-book, software or a testimonial for the webmaster you've requested a link from. Try to give more than you can receive, and people will usually appreciate your kindness and link to you.
3. Write articles Writing articles and submitting them to article directories are the easiest way you can get quality links to your website. If your articles are good, people will pick it up and put them on their websites - with your resource box and link inside of course.
Writing free articles is a major traffic builder, so make good use of this strategy.
4. Give away a compiled resource of your articles If you have been writing a lot of articles, put all of them in a single folder and let visitors to your site download them for free - articles of which is in your expertise. This is an extra effective way of urging people in using your articles, and will also increase your publicity greatly.
Make sure they are related to what your website is, this way you can get targeted webmasters to publish your articles all around the Internet. Urge them to publish your articles, as long as they don't change anything and include the resource box with your link inside.
5. Exchange links/Reciprocal Linking Exchange links with other quality websites(page rank 4-5) that compliments with yours. Not only can you benefit each other but also get targeted visitors which highly increase the sales conversion between both sites.
To increase the chances of getting a reciprocal link greatly, take initiative to include a link to your potential link exchange partner's site first, this will give him or her a great motivation to link back to you.
Apply any of these steps when requesting for a link, and it'll increase the chances of a success in-bound link for you - which means a higher page rank and greater traffic.

6 Tips For Raising Your Search Engine Rankings by Halstatt Pires
1. Site Navigation
The navigation menu that appears on your website should include your page's titles if possible. Also, your sites navigation should be consistent and on every page so that not only people may easily navigate your site, but search engine spiders as well.
2. Choose Less Popular Keywords
Don't just use the most popular keyword phrases - the market is so competitive that you should be sure to include some special keywords relative to your website. This is especially true if you are just starting to market your site on the web.
3. Choose Related Links
Make sure that you don't have a lot of irrelevant links on your site. The more closely the links on your site are related to your site, the better the chances of being ranked well in search engines.
4. Update Your Content
You need to periodically update the content of your website, even if it's only a slight change. Search engine spiders give better rankings to sites that update content often.
5. Don't Over Submit
You need to consider the fact that many search engines don't like automatic submissions or multiple submissions. Therefore, submit only once and don't use a whole slew of submitting software.
6. Subscribe To and Read Search Engine Relevant News.
Always be on a look out for SEO news - staying up to date and using the latest techniques will help you stay one step ahead of your competitors.
When it comes to massive profitability, high search engine rankings can't be beat. Keep on top of the game and you will be happy you did.

The Advantages Of RSS Websites by Jeremiah Patton
·Desktop RSS readers - also known as standalone desktop application, they generally 'run' in the background and are similar to an e-mail client, collecting the feeds and refreshing items automatically as they are updated.
·Web-based aggregators - these are online services that enable users to personalize web pages, refreshing them each time the page is accessed or each time a person logs in to the service.
·Plug-in aggregators/readers - these make use of either web browsers or e-mail clients, which allow users to view RSS feeds while inside an existing program.
Having an RSS-enabled website provides Internet users (especially those who are website owners) with the following benefits:
·Allows users to generate up-to-date news and postings, as information and content in the RSS readers or aggregators are automatically updated each time the RSS feed is 'refreshed'.
·Allows users to have control over the information that they wish to view or receive, as they can remove a feed of their choosing any time they want to.
Aside from these benefits, RSS websites are also useful for people who conduct their business in the Internet, particularly in Internet or Online Marketing. RSS can be an effective marketing tool for your website, especially in the following fields:
·E-mail marketing and publishing ·Search engine marketing and optimization ·Business blogging ·Internet advertising ·Digital public relations ·Branding and e-commerce
In addition, RSS can 'power' your website, providing you with the following:
·Valuable, updated, and relevant resources for site visitors and potential clients - RSS is ideal for websites that contain (and syndicate) a lot of information that has to be changed or updated regularly.
·Search engine optimization for the website.
·Increased traffic for the website - your website can 'harvest' and display information from other sites, driving more traffic to your own website.
·A wide selection of 'channels' for content distribution, such as PDA's, cellular phones, voice mails, and email ticklers.
·A reliable way to have your web content delivered to Internet users and potential clients - RSS ensures that your site is viewed by the people who are interested in them, without having them blocked and 'cleaned' by ISPs or Spam filters.
These are just some of the advantages that RSS can give your website (and your business). The possibilities are endless, as more and more comes up almost everyday. Do not be left behind - take the advantage of the marketing and publishing power of RSS.

·RDF Site Summary (also known as RSS 0.9; the first version of RSS)
·Rich Site Summary (also known as RSS 0.91; a prototype)
·Really Simple Syndication (also known as RSS 2.0)
Today, RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication', and it has the following 7 existing formats or versions:
·0.90 ·0.91 ·0.92 ·0.93 ·0.94 ·1.0 ·2.0
RSS tools refer to a group of file formats that are designed to share headlines and other web content (this may be a summary or simply 1 to 2 lines of the article), links to the full versions of the content (the full article or post), and even file attachments such as multimedia files. All of these data is delivered in the form of an XML file (XML stands for eXtensible Markup Language), which has the following common names:
·RSS feed ·Webfeed ·RSS stream ·RSS channel
They are typically shown on web pages as an orange rectangle that usually has the letters XML or RSS in it.
RSS feeds can be used to deliver any kind of information. Some of these 'feeds' include:
·Blogs feed - each blog entry is summarized as a feed item. This makes blog posts easier to scan, enabling 'visitors' to zoom in on their items of interest.
·Article feed - this alerts readers whenever there are new articles and web contents available.
·Forum feed - this allows users to receive forum posts and latest discussion topics.
·Schedule feed - this allows users (such as schools, clubs, and other organizations) to broadcast events and announce schedule changes or meeting agendas.
·Discounts or Special feed - this is used to enable users (such as retail and online stores) to 'deliver' latest specials and discounted offers.
·Ego or News Monitoring - this enables users to receive 'filtered' headlines or news that are based on a specific phrase or keyword.
·Industry-specific feed - used by technical professionals in order to market, promote, or communicate with current (and prospective) customers and clients within their specific industries.
RSS feeds enable people to track numerous blogs and news sources at the same time. To produce an RSS feed, all you need is the content or the article that you want to publicize and a validated RSS text file. Once your text file is registered at various aggregators (or 'news readers'), any external site can then capture and display your RSS feed, automatically updating them whenever you update your RSS file.
RSS tools are useful for sites that add or modify their contents on a regular basis. They are especially used for 'web syndication' or activities that involve regular updates and/or publications, such as the following:
·News websites - as used by major news organizations such as Reuters, CNN, and the BBC. ·Marketing ·Bug reports ·Personal weblogs
There are many benefits to using RSS feeds. Aside from being a great supplemental communication method that streamlines the communication needs of various sectors, RSS tools and feeds can also have tremendous benefits in your business, particularly in the field of internet marketing.
RSS tools and feeds provide Internet users with a free (or cheap) and easy advertising or online marketing opportunity for their businesses. Below are some of the RSS features that can help make your internet marketing strategies more effective.
1. Ease in content distribution services. With RSS, your business can be captured and displayed by virtually any external site, giving you an easy way to 'spread out' and advertise them.
2. Ease in regular content updates. With RSS, web contents concerning your business can now be automatically updated on a daily (and even hourly) basis. Internet users will be able to experience 'real time' updates as information in your own file (such as new products and other business-related releases) is changed and modified simultaneously with that of the RSS feeds that people are subscribed to.
3. Custom-made content services. With RSS, visitors can have personalized content services, allowing them total control of the flow and type of information that they receive. Depending on their interests and needs, visitors can subscribe to only those contents that they are looking for (such as real estate or job listings).
4. Increase in (and targeted) traffic. With RSS, traffic will be directed to your site as readers of your content summary (or 1 to 2 lines of your article) who find them interesting are 'forced' to click on a link back to your site.
These are just several of the many things that you can do with RSS. The possibilities are endless, and they are all aimed at providing you with an effective internet marketing strategy for your business.
